An assortment of student designed light fixtures was recently exhibited in the student commons, part of the Lighting Design course taken by Westwood interior design students. The project sought to explore the emerging technology of LED light fixtures and the impact that this technology will have on the future functionality and artistry of lighting design. Students started by creating a basic paper sculpture, and then figured out a way to combine multiples of this sculpture together. This sculpture then evolved into a paper prototype for a functioning fixture, and then a final product was built using materials consistent with the quality of light desired.
