LBBF SHORTSTOP Reception

On February 6, 2014, the Westwood College - South Bay Education Department and Career Services joined Instructor Mark Rothenberg in honoring all the SHORTSTOP’s volunteers and supporters in Long Beach.

SHORTSTOP is a Juvenile Crime Diversion Program aimed towards reducing delinquency among at-risk youth. The program holds several sessions on Tuesday night at Long Beach Courthouse where volunteer attorneys, legal professionals, and parolees dramatically demonstrate the legal facts of life to the juvenile offenders as well as to their parents. The sessions include experiencing life incarcerated as well as sessions to better themselves. SHORTSTOP teaches its participants the consequences of criminal behaviors, the value of freedom, how to resolve conflict in a non-violent manner, and making positive decisions for a brighter future.

Mark Rothenberg is one of the founding father of the SHORTSTOP Program in Long Beach. He had also served as the President of the program and is currently a member of the Board of Director and a Volunteer Instructor for the SHORTSTOP Program.
